Friday Favorites

Hello All and Happy Friday!

I have decided to do a themed Friday post, which I will most certainly not do every Friday, but it's fun to pretend that I might.  I have really made a big effort to create lots of fun and games - both educational and silly - for Kellan.  With it getting colder outside, we are getting more and more creative with ways to have fun inside.  A few of my friends have expressed an interest in finding fun rainy day activities, so I thought I would devote a blog post every once in a while to some of K's most recent favorites.

Without question, K's absolute favorite craft time activity is painting with trains.  It is so popular, that pictures of that activity have their own special post.  Another big favorite, however, are movement cards from the amazing blog Mommy School.  This incredible woman has put together many great themed packets that have tons of great activities for toddler/preschool aged children.  Her "H is for Halloween" packet had these fun movement cards, such as "Roll Like A Pumpkin", "Smile Like a Jack-o-Lantern," "Creep Like a Cat" and "Fly Like a Bat."  K absolutely loved this activity.

Another popular activity this week were various forms of indoor bowling using paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls and water bottles as bowling pins and either a ball, pumpkin or Kellan on a bicycle as a bowling ball.  Note: Pants not required.

Another activity we have done using the bike is an indoor bike course.  This is also hugely popular.  I make some tunnels to go through and a course to follow and he has a great time with that, too.

Indoor "sandbox" with rice and dried beans provided a bit of entertainment as well. We used various kitchen utensils along with some of Kellan's trucks (that a very generous friend recently handed down to us!).  It didn't last as long as I had hoped, but he had fun with it!

With the exception of the Oopsey Daisy Mommy School blog, I got most of these ideas from the following two books:

Of course Pinterest is also an excellent source for activities as well.  I have a special board devoted to activities for K with pins from some truly incredible mommy blogs: For the Little Man.
