Waterfall and Wine: Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland and Alsace, France

On our last day in Switzerland, Kellan started the day by saying goodbye to his temporary backyard.  Many of the photos in this post are courtesy of Karen.  I was getting tired of taking pictures at this point, but she was still going strong!
We were sad to leave such a beautiful place.  Next stop: Lauterbrunnen.  A town on the other side of the mountains from Grindelwald and home of the Staubbach Falls.
The town was beautiful and relatively quiet compared to Grindelwald.
We hiked up a short but steep path so we could stand underneath the falls.  K loved this tunnel!
Getting up the falls was a little steep and slippery, but we made it.  And did some more water photo experimentation while there.
We grabbed some lunch at a local eatery and then were off to Alsace, France!
We arrived in Alsace in the late afternoon.  Our car barely fit through the streets as we cautiously made our way to our hotel.  Everything was in bloom, and while it was busy, the town was beautiful.
It didn't take us long to find a winery, and we promptly began tasting - and soaking in our centuries-old surroundings.
The wine was delicious.  And we took home many bottles...
After our tasting, we took a walk through town to let K stretch his legs.
Kellan was very busy exploring and certainly did not have time for photo op below.
Matt found a restaurant in one of our travel books and made reservations.  It had a lovely ambiance and yummy food.
We got some ice cream for K afterwards and strolled around a bit longer.
The next morning, while we were checking out of the hotel and packing up the car, Kellan and Grammy explored the beautiful flowers that seemed to be everywhere...
Any type of ramp or stairs is also a very popular attraction for K.
We headed to Ramstein Air Force Base next, where Matt would be departing to fly back to the U.S. for work with the Reserves.  We got our "American freak on" as one of our friends here calls it and went on a shopping extravaganza.  Kellan also had his second hair cut - or hack job as it could be more aptly called.  More on that later...
