Gymnastics

Back in August, I enrolled Kellan in gymnastics, or Turnen, as they call it here.  It is basically a big obstacle course for toddlers to play on.  Of course, K loves it.  Please pardon the blurry pictures, I am but an amateur.  ;-)

At the beginning of class, they have circle time and sing songs.  Then the teacher, Ulla (pronounced Oo-la), turns on some energetic children's songs - that I can only imagine as being sung by a bouncy German clown - and the kids run in circles around the room.  Kellan especially loves this part and some days he will continue running around in circles even after all the other kids have started playing on the toys.
This particular day was very warm and there isn't air conditioning in the building, so Kellan was pretty sweaty!  He loved playing on this slide.

He likes the trampoline as well, though he still is working on getting the jumping with two feet thing down.
He climbs,
balances,
and balances,
and then runs!
And runs some more!
He was seriously sweaty by the end of class.  Don't worry he wasn't overheated - he's just one of those kids that gets red and sweaty when he gets warm.
There is always a huge mat set up as a slide.  Once Kellan mastered going down it forward and backward, he moved on to walking and running down it.  He also liked rolling balls down the mat slide.
Here is a shot of the whole set up.  It's a fun little place.  And it gives me a chance to practice my German with the other mommies.  Fortunately many of them speak English and can help me when I get stuck.
I will be really happy to have this place in the winter when it is too cold to be outside for very long to play!  Kellan certainly loves it.
