My big valentine came home from a trip today bearing my favorite yummy American candies. Him being home was an even better gift. I saw a great quote on the Facebook page of a friend from elementary school:
We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.Great quote for Valentine's Day.

My little Valentine was a sweet prince today. He is feeling much better and I think I only heard him cough once. I bought some ice cream cones about a ago week for dessert when we had some friends over for dinner. I have since had to put a lock on the freezer because K constantly opens it, trying to find more of that sweet ice cream cone goodness. He is in love. (That is chocolate and bits on cone all over floor behind him. The clean up process after one of these is pretty brutal.)
Second matter of business to discuss is I have decided to start doing "German Word of the Day" posts. I am logging about a 1-2 hours per day studying German on both Rosetta Stone and Super Memo (a great flashcard program for IPhone) and it is paying off. Though I understand more and more everyday, I still have a long way to go. I stumble upon words that I find to be somewhat amusing as I am learning and I think I need to pass this amusement along to you as well.
So, in honor of Valentine's Day, my German word for today is "der Schmuck." As in, your significant other asks you,
"Honey, what would you like for Valentine's Day this year?"
To which you would respond, "I would like some Schmuck, please."Schmuck = Jewelry in German. When we first got here and started walking around looking at stores, we kept laughing when we saw the word "Schmuck" in lights.
I hope you got Schmuck, or whatever else you may have been wishing for this Valentine's Day. :-)
