The first area had goats in an enclosed space. There were vending machines to buy food to feed the animals, but we didn't bring any money with us, so all the animals were a little disappointed after interacting with us long enough to realize we didn't have food.
Kellan was loving it.
One goat in particular refused to even waste the energy it would take to turn around and look at us; he could smell that we did not bear any food. Clearly, he has an effective system in place, because he appears to be very well fed.
We walked over to another area that was not enclosed and we were greeted by a goat who was as close to asking us for food as he could be, considering he could only say, "Baa!" while sticking his black tongue out at us. With this being a petting zoo and all, Kellan really wanted to pet this goat. But this goat also quickly realized we had no food and decided he was no longer interested. Kellan, however, was not dissuaded by the goat's lack of interest and persisted.
At first I was a little concerned about Kellan chasing this goat, but he wasn't really gaining on him. I figured these goats were pretty used to people, so I just let K continue with what I knew would be a fruitless (but exhaustingly enjoyable) pursuit.
The aforementioned goat ran over to his friends, whom he immediately informed of our lack of food, and they, too, decided they weren't interested in us.
Even as the goats broke away into a field, Kellan was undeterred. Living with border collies for the majority of his life was finally paying off.
We headed back over to the entry of the zoo, but didn't leave without checking out the pantaloons on the roosters. I think roosters may have invented pantaloons they wear them so well.
It was time to get out of the rain, so we walked home and had some lunch and snuggled K in for an afternoon nap.
LOL! Becca, the pictures of him running after those goats KILLED us. How wonderful that he can satiate his curiosity in such a cool way. And that rooster on the left is HUMONGOUS. Blake and I are itching to come see these urban forests...
