Settling into a Routine...

"A Day in the Life" by The Beatles

We are starting to settle into a routine here in our apartment in Köln.  I realize I am making myself vulnerable to merciless ridicule from my friends who make fun of how I plan everything.  All I can say to that is, at least, for the sake of this blog post, I have rounded the schedule off to half hours.  I actually get Kellan dressed at 8:32am.  Just kidding; I am not that regimented.  I just wish I was.

7:30am Up and at 'em!  Mommy showers and gets ready for the day.
8:00am Kellan is up and ready for breakfast.
8:30am Kellan gets dressed and ready for playtime.  This week, we have two games we have been playing.  One is to take a tub of small stuffed animals, make each one run across the ottoman and then dive onto the floor.  Then we put all of the animals back in the tub and start over again.  The other is to take a tub of cars and sit at one end of the hallway, then put a fabric tote on it's side at the other end of the hallway and roll the cars into the "garage."

Eventually he gets bored with one of these activities and he's off on his own...  A favorite spot is the windows in our room where he can watch all the cars, trucks and trains go by.

He stops to take a break and refresh occassionally.
10:00am After playtime, we go down to the basement to take out trash and recycling and to do some laundry.  K loves to ride the elevator and explore around.
Our laundry room in the basement, along with the garage, trash, storage room, and bike/kinderwagen (stroller) rooms.
11:00am Snack and then out to run errands.  We walk about a half a mile to the grocery store and bank.  It was snowy today, but much warmer than it has been the last two weeks.
1:00pm Kellan takes a nap, Mommy gets some "me" time.
3:00pm Playtime and a trip to the park so Mommy can go running, but not today because K has a cough and I don't want to have him out in the cold too much.  When I went running on Sunday, there were people ice-skating on the pond at the huge, urban forest by our house.
6:00pm Dinner
7:00 Bath and Bed Time
Nighty night!
