Auf Wiedersehen, Herbst! Hallo Winter!

We did a series of fall photos in November at the park across the street from our house.  Kellan has become quite the expert on his balance bike, so we try to get him out as much as possible to ride.

I let him do a little riding sans helmet for the sake of pictures...
We tried doing some posed pumpkin shots, but this is the only one the came out OK.
One last shot before putting on the helmet.  He loves going down hills, which terrifies the older Germans walking around in the park.  They will stop and stare at him, preparing to turn around and scold me when he falls, but he hasn't had a spill on any of these hills yet.
 Off he goes...
Later in the month, we went out together as a family.  There were still some colorful leaves left on the trees.
And a lot of pretty leaves on the ground...
Kellan's favorite part of the park are the various sets of train tracks.  He is seriously obsessed.
There is a hill he loves to go down near the tracks.  It is fairly steep, but he tries to go as fast as he can and then he lifts up his feet to make sure they don't slow him down.  People regularly stop us to say how good he is on the balance bike!
The petting zoo in the park is beautiful any time of year, but it has been especially beautiful this fall.  We rode through, but K was having too much fun on his bike to stop and feed the animals.
We continued through the park, making our way to a place where we knew there were some huge piles of leaves.
Kellan took a break from bike riding to go on a leaf jumping and throwing frenzy.
It didn't take long for Daddy to join in the fun.

 Then it was Mommy's turn!
After having leaves thrown on him a number of times, Kellan decided it was his turn to throw leaves on someone else...
We ended our leaf romp with leaf angels and then headed over to the playground and to run some errands.
Within only a few days after this perfect fall day, nearly all the leaves on the ground had turned brown.  We  got our fall photos just in time...
