Bonn Half-Marathon

I am trying to keep my posts in chronological order here, so I apologize for posting about things that happened weeks ago.

On April 22nd, 2012, Matt and I completed our first half-marathon together!  We finished in just under two hours, according to the official race time keepers.  We had a lot of fun and it was exhilarating to cross the finish line together.

Before:
Our 13.1 took us through Bonn's old city center as well as over, back and past the Rhine.  Bonn is a city just south of Cologne; about 30 minutes drive.  Many of the FedEx families live in this cute city because there is a great international school there.  During the race, we ran past tons and tons of spectators.  There were men playing horns and even a drum line.  Pardon the bounciness of this video.  As you might have guessed, I was running while I shot it.
 After:
Here is a link to a video of us crossing the finish line.  See if you can find us...I'm wearing a pink shirt.

We were pretty beat after the race.  I am very impressed with those who continued on to complete the 26.2!

The night before our half-marathon, we packed up our car to embark on a 7-day road trip through Southern Germany.  We left Kellan with some of our awesome friends here, did the race, and then went back to pick up K and depart for the first stop on our trip: Rothenberg ob der Tauber.  Sadly, we were noticing a knocking noise coming from one of the front tires when the accelerator or brake wasn't on.  Over the course of the first hour of our drive it progressively got worse, until we decided to turn around and go home and postpone our trip.  It was kind of a blessing: we all put on our PJ's and relaxed all night.  Both Matt and I could barely walk!

The next morning, Matt took the car in for an easy repair and by lunch time we had begun our drive down the Romantic Road...
