One of the fun homemade Christmas gifts I did this year was homemade stationery. I got this idea from the fun and adorable blog Bellaziza's Favorite Things. Using colorful, blank stationery as a backdrop, you use flowers as stamps to create pretty, one-of-a-kind designs. I used sturdy yellow, pink and blue notecards and envelopes with white, blue, purple, and orange paints. For the first batch, I used fresh daisies. For the next few batches, I opted for fake daisies, as they held up much better and were easier to manipulate. The paint I used was an inexpensive acrylic from Hobby Lobby.
It was a pretty easy project and I really enjoyed experimenting with different designs and colors!
As I was printing out hundreds of return address labels and updating my contacts list to mail Christmas cards, it occurred to me that something fun to do with this stationery would be to include it in a mailing kit and give that as a gift to some of my family members. I often get requests from other family members for addresses and had been meaning to forward on the massive contact spreadsheet I made when Matt and I got married.
For the mailing kits, I made individualized contact lists for each recipient, as well as return address labels. Then I paired the list and labels with a book of stamps and a stack of stationery in a brightly colored box. Everything for mailing all in one place! This gift was inexpensive (less than $10 to make) and easy to put together. I think they were a big hit!
