We left Meersburg early on the fourth day of our Southern Germany Sampler trip. K couldn't wait to see what wonder were ahead of us that day.
While checked out of the hotel we wandered around talking about all the places where water might be.in the pedestrian area in front of our hotel.Even the walk to our parking garage was beautiful.
We drove over to the water and onto a ferry to take us to Konstanz. It was short trip, but a fun way to get from point A to point B.
K was mesmerized.
It wasn't fifteen minutes and we were pulling into the dock, so we headed back downstairs and into the car.
We then drove a short distance (maybe 20 minutes) to Mainau Island, which may be one of the most spectacular places I have ever visited. I highly recommend this spot for people with kids of all ages. It has the most amazing, massive playgrounds I have seen anywhere. You could spend a full day or two here easily. Click here to learn more about all the island has to offer. Without question, the biggest draw are the beautiful flowers that decorate the entire island. Really like nothing I have ever seen.
K loved the playgrounds.
Kellan met a German friend in one of the playhouses and the two of them laughed and laughed at each other. It was super cute.
After K's playground romp, we ate some lunch at one of their on-site restaurants, which was pretty good, then we put K in the stroller and headed out to look at all of the flowers.
In the background of the photo below are a huge mansion and church, tucked into the middle of the island, surrounded by the many flowers and towering trees that are hundreds and hundreds of years old. Tours of the mansion are offered, but we were too captivated by the flowers to check it out.
After walking about a mile through the gardens, K fell asleep. It just seemed to get more beautiful with each step we took. The pictures speak for themselves...
The beautiful weather, coupled with incredible scenery, made for an amazing day on Mainau Island. After exploring there, we headed into the Black Forest to Staufen, Germany.
